Dockside Boat Works: March
'08 Newsletter
Well, here is our March
News Letter. So boating season will be here before we know it.
Have you checked on your boat lately? Most people put there boat
to bed in the fall and do not think about it again until it gets
warm. Why not get a head start on the new boating season? Go ahead
and wake your boat up and check it over.
- How is the varnish looking?
- Does it need any touch
up or a full coat?
- What about the engine
compartment; does the engine need a touch up?
- How are the plug wires
looking?
- Do the battery cables
need cleaning?
- Check to make sure the
battery is still good.
- Look over the bottom.
Do any of the seams need compound in them or does the bottom
need painting?
- What about the prop,
does it need sprucing up from a little mishap over the summer?
- Do all your lights work,
and is the bilge pump operating okay?
- And one thing most people
seem to over look - how is the trailer?
- Are the bearings okay
or do they need grease?
- What kind of shape are
the tires in?
- Do the lights work?
Now is the time to check
over these things so you can fix them or arrange to have them
done before the boat shops get booked up. These are just a few
things I can think of to get ready for that first boat ride; and
I hope it is a good one.
As always, if there are
any topics you would like to discuss please let us know.
Thanks for taking the time to visit.
Jerry LeCompte.
Dockside Boat Works: December
'07 Newsletter
Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I am Jerry LeCompte of
Dockside Boat Works; where we have restored and maintained antique
and classic boats for the past 17 years. I have 30 years of experience
working on wooden boats.
We have a crew of four employees, one of which is my son Robert
who has been working with me off and on since he was about 10.
I am proud to say that after serving 4 years in the Marines with
two tours in Iraq he is now out of the service and working with
us as foreman of the shop.
This is the first of our new monthly newsletters to let you know
what we are working on and offer free help and advice on restoring
or maintaining your boat. Future topics include what to look for
when buying a project boat or a newly restored boat, maintanance
and repair issues, and any projects that you request and article
on.
So if you like the newsletters and have some ideas for topics
please do not hesitate to send us a request. We also encourage
you to sign up for our newsletter in order to recieve it via e-mail
and keep up to date on our shop and hopefully learn something
new every month. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site
and we look forward to hearing from you.
